Week 11: 2nd Home page+ System architecture

This week was WEIRD!

During the semester we got used to talk with each other more than with our romantic partner.

This week we got separated into 2 groups that worked on different things:

The CS team started exploring and building the architecture of the app (you will read more about that in the next weeks)

Psychology & Communication students (A.K.A Psy&Com team) updated the home screen from the research results from last week and did even more user research on the updated home screen.

Both of the groups did a great job but it was weird to not do everything together.

Probably we should start getting used to it…

Here is the Psy&com team report of the week:

As we wrote above, this week we redesigned the homepage screen in order to improve the flow, and did second Guerrilla testing with 3 users. We continued to work on the homepage screen and address the Guerrilla test’s questions, to potential users:

1. "What will you click on if you want to send a scheduled text message to your partner?”

2. "What button will you click on if you want to send 'I think of you' message to your partner?"

3. "Which screen is the ‘history’ one?, once you click on it, what you’ll see?

4. “In your opinion Which button belongs to the user's feature / main action in the app?”

5. What do you think the other buttons represent?

6. Do you have any general comments, what would you change or improve?

The main conclusions that we came out from the test were:

  • Buttons’ message is clear, but we must pay attention to the copywriting to ensure that users understand the context.

  • Create "default" gesture options - for moments when you want to send a gesture, but are not inspired.

  • Add an indicator, for the last time I (the user) sent a tribute to a partner.

  • Change the ‘Create A Note’ button’s copyright to - create a time note, in order to make it more specific.

  • The hamburger bar should be moved to the left since the application is in English.

In the meantime, the CS team started research about implementation of different features in the app, and try to find and lear a bit more about open source code and relevant API like Firebase for the notifications, google maps platform for planting the notes according to place, google photos API to get couple pictures that will be shown in the app and more.

Still thinking about how it might look in the future, and waiting for feedback from classmates and mentors. Hopefully, we'll have a consolidated homepage to work with next week - stay tuned!

PS - if you have a better original name for all of us instead of “Group 5” or a name for the Psy&Com team please write it in the comments below!
