Week 13: During semester vacay

At the end of the last semester, we got some feedback during the mentoring session (final presentations) about the age of our users. At the beginning of the year, we thought our main potential users were young couples in a stable relationship (more than a year) without kids. The mentors however thought that the problem we are trying to solve is relevant and even bigger among 'older' couples that have kids and might experience ‘couple burnout’ during routine life, often..

So as we believe in decision-making using data, we had to check.

We conducted a survey with 96 participants, 34% of them are at the age of 37 years old +, married with kids.

From this survey, we got to the conclusion that the mentors were right. The data showed that couples with kids at the age 0-18 make much fewer small/modest gestures than young couples. Therefore, we updated and extended the segment of users so that married couples with young kids will be included. The needs – of being loved and being seen are relevant to them too.

During the semester break, we met Hezi Taniani, an amazing product designer who teaches and advises us a lot in the last semester. We showed him our current prototype and he gave us feedback and remarks regarding the app’s design and features.

Here you can see some of the old screens (at the end of semester A):

And those are the new screens, after the meeting with Hezi:

After the changes we have made according to Hezi's feedback, Muna, Maya and Shir met potential users face to face, present them a brief context about the app and ask them to explain what the features are, while using it.

We’ve gathered some notes and insights and finally made improvements regarding the UX and UI. For example, two of the most common remarks that came up was that we must pay attention to the copywriting at the homepage (Future Gestures at the bottom of the page), we need to ensure that users understand the context. In addition, the users didn’t recognize the “THINKING OF YOU” button. We must find another solution for it and make it clearer.

On the programming side, Dotan and Eden worked on the final submission for Milab's app programming course. In this app, they created many parts of code that we will be able to use in our app. Moreover, we got to experience technologies like “Firebase” that will allow us to create databases and users in our app.

Cannot wait to start programming our app, connect it to the design and bring it to life!
